Welcome to Haslingden High School - a Specialist Arts, Maths and Computing College for students aged 11-18.
We are committed to our number one aim which is to enable all students to achieve their potential regardless of age, ability or background and this aim pervades policies and practice within school. We have high expectations, shared with our community and regularly reinforced with students and their families. The Every Child Matters outcomes are at the heart of all that we do and all that we stand for and are the key drivers of our School Improvement Plan.
In 2002 we were successful in gaining Specialist School Status in the Performing Arts and, as a nationally recognised High Performing Specialist School, we added Maths and Computing as a second specialism in April 2007.
We have been a member of the `Most improved schools` club` for three years running and are using our multi-specialist status to help facilitate innovative and creative teaching and learning, develop personalised pathways for students and support transition between all key stages.
In November 2007 Ofsted Inspectors judged the School overall to be Outstanding and, importantly, also judged all of the key areas of inspection to be outstanding. These are: Achievement and standards; Personal development and well-being; Quality of provision (Teaching, Curriculum, and Care, guidance and support); Leadership and management; Overall effectiveness.
To achieve Outstanding in all categories for the school overall is exceptional and is national recognition of our many achievements over the past four years. Further, Inspectors have acknowledged publicly the success in which we put into practice our number one aim.
We are proud of our achievements – our examination success, the diversity of our extra-curricular programme, our community involvement – and look forward to meeting you and working with you during the coming years.
